It never hurts to ask.
With some Detroit roots of my own, I'm a devout Motown fan and, over the course of my broadcasting career, I had the opportunity to interview many of the legendary stars of that fabled label. The Motown segment of my record library is, shall we say, vast. But by 2007, I'd gotten a bit behind in keeping up with the pricey reissues that were being released.
Hmmm... What's a music junkie to do? How 'bout pitching a comprehensive article on the Motown catalog to the top music collectors' publication? What better reason to request a box of free promo CDs from the record company?
