Al Jardine Family & Friends Concert Review
2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the most influential musical ensemble to emerge, literally and figuratively, from the shores of America. The ongoing legacy of the Beach Boys as a live, performing entity has split into three separate factions-- Mike Love and Bruce Johnston's troupe, which operates under the brand name; former leader Brian Wilson's impressive ensemble; and co-founder Al Jardine, who performs not only with Brian, but in different touring configurations of his own.
In March of '22, Jardine embarked on a limited tour under the banner of "Family & Friends," a group featuring son Matt Jardine, Brian Wilson's daughters --Carnie and Wendy-- of Wilson Phillips fame, and four of the best musicians who've toiled with various Beach Boys iterations over the years.
This is a review of their maiden voyage.
