In its first two decades, People Magazine was often an interesting read, cover-to-cover. But once the scourge of tabloid journalism infected the mainstream media, People's column space devoted to human interest pieces and tales of achievement dwindled. It's not that their writers aren't talented, it's just that a majority of the stories are soulless and superficial. A rare exception inspired me to write.
