Ensuring that federally funded research benefits all Americans requires explicit investment in AI
education infrastructure. Most U.S. colleges lack the specialized staff needed to support AI coursework. A
modest national investment — combined with low per-student fees after scale — could bring high-quality AI
education to hundreds of institutions serving more than a million students per year, ensuring broad participation in
the AI-powered scientific enterprise.
